DORBA and Raintree Healthcare are proud and excited to present the DORBA 2021 “Turkey Lurkey” Juniors challenge.
Parents & Juniors! Turkey Lurkey is hiding on our local trails and it’s up to you to find him.
Our annual Fall challenge for the kids starts Saturday, November 13th. This is a simple NON-COMPETITIVE “Scavenger Hunt” event. Juniors will have from November 13th to December 5th to find Turkey Lurkey posted along several different DORBA and DORBA affiliated trails.
This year we will not have “Designated Trails” - all the trails will be “Mystery Trails.” Therefore NO trails will be announced. Juniors will just have to guess and hope to find Turkey Lurkey wherever they may be riding! I may – or may NOT (!) – give hints along the way as to which trails are included.
When a Junior finds Turkey Lurkey, he/she must take a picture with the sign and post it on the DORBA Juniors page for credit. Each picture of Turkey Lurkey on a trail will be worth 1 raffle ticket, but the FIRST (and only the first) picture of Turkey Lurkey posted from each trail will be worth 3 raffle tickets! At the end of the challenge, all of a Junior’s tickets will be entered into a random drawing for gift cards and prizes which will be mailed to the lucky winners before Christmas.
FAQ:
Q: We have 37 deadbeat relatives coming for Thanksgiving; I have to feed them all and I’m broke. How much does this challenge cost?
A: It’s FREE, thanks to DORBA and our generous sponsors.
Q: Do we have to be members of DORBA to participate?
A: No. But seriously, if your Juniors are participating, PLEASE consider joining DORBA. I mean, it’s like $35 bucks a year (that’s less than you spend taking the family to the movies) and it supports trail access, construction, and maintenance year-round!
Q: Which trails might be included?
A: ANY of the local trails listed on the DORBA webpage might be included. Juniors will just have to visit as many as they can and try to find him! Kids may discover Turkey Lurkey ONLY while riding open trails, please.
Q: This sounds great! I’d much rather take my kid mountain biking than shop for free range organic turkey and gluten free stuffing. How do we sign up?
A: A signup page will be posted in the next day or two. Stay tuned!
