Description
Erwin Park is a city of McKinney public park. The trail is just around 8.1 miles. The trail is a mix of tight and twisty in the woods to some fast open field sections. There is plenty of climbing to get you heart rate up. Since you're going up, there are some fast and fun downhills as well. There are some technical sections and most of the technical sections have alternate (easy) routes around them. The trail does have some dips. The last section of trail is called the expert section. There is an alternater route to your left crossing a bridge (left - easy; right - hard). This is the only alternate route with a bridge. Camping is allowed for a very nominal fee. Contact the city community center at 972/542-0045. They are located on the north bound service road of central, north of Eldorado Parkway.

Because you asked politely...
Ok, it's been a week with no comments. Boring!! I know Erwin's closed but Van could you at least post something funny?! Maybe a fat chick flying over a motorcycle.
1/3 of it is a muddy mess (open north fields and area by the upper lot)--too damaging to ride...the rest is perfectly dry....the old asphalt road going to the cops house turned into a river now its a sharp gully as wide as your tire 3-4 inches deep...
Went out to ride the roads for some exercise....I got out of my truck by the entrance.....trail is a MUDDY MESS over there. The smaller open field to the North was soggy.
The South end by the Airfield was dry as a bone, it looks like SisterGrove in parts now due to the erosion being compounded due amount of water, going downhill, from the last major rains. One part was REALLY bad and will require a re-route when its drier.
yes we can use the stone. where is it? send me a pm with the details.
I have a bunch of those posts in the pic below--that I can donate--and small road signs from a development--they just have arrows on them though...also have 2 pallets and a half of armoring stone---chopped leuters is the stone ---this is heavy big stone in chopped squares---if you guys need it its in Allen--let me know--it can be picked up anytime.
What about a sign that just says please don't ride muddy trails.

How about putting up signs like this at the upper and lower trail heads?
What about a sign that just says please don't ride muddy trails.
the sign said closed but people were still riding but the trail was dry but nobody changed the sign!

well we all miss Erwin should be dry soon especially with the 8o degrees coming up-I put a 34 : 15 on my SS and have been riding the abundant hike and bike trails around...I was riding about 20 mph today and a big lady was waving her arms frantically warning the family in front of me with their backs turned to me that I was coming.( I was thinking "is she waving because Im riding?")..she didnt realize that my rig could shred the bermuda median as well as the concrete trail...funny stuff. Im ready to cycle some dirt
