The Katie Jackson DORBA Trail is located southeast of the intersection of the President George Bush Turnpike and the North Dallas Tollway in Katie Jackson Park, 4900 Haverwood Lane, Dallas, Texas 75287.  Park hours are 5 am to 11 pm.

The KJ Trail consists of 5 miles of scenic singletrack in the woods along White Rock Creek and around the NorthBark Dog Park to the North. It also has Dirt Jumps that progress from beginner to expert, as well as a new pump track. The trailhead is at the rear corner of Katie Jackson Park, off the concrete sidewalk:

Trail Description:  The trail has North and South sections.  The South Side has two loops totaling 2.7 miles of singletrack. The North Side has one 2.3 mile loop, dirt jumps and a pump track.  Most of the singletrack is flat and flows through forest and along the edge of creek canyons. The trail has a few rollers, and handful of dry creek crossings, and abundant wildlife.  The trail is ideal for both endurance building and leisurely rides.  All loops run counterclockwise for bikers, clockwise for foot traffic.

The South Perimeter Blue Loop is 1.35 miles of singletrack running counterclockwise through woods and all along the banks of two creeks, marked with blue arrows.  The South Blue Loop begins just behind the DORBA trailhead sign:

The South Red Loop is 1.35 miles of singletrack running counterclockwise through woods, marked with red arrows.  The entrance to the South Red Loop is off of the South Blue Loop:

The Red Loop ends back into the blue loop, just before the Red Loop entrance.  There is a second entrance to the South Red Loop off of the South Blue Loop closer to the trailhead:

Helpful hint : Ride the Blue and Red loops as one 2.7 mile loop – Ride the Blue loop until you get to the main entrance to the Red Loop, exit to the Red Loop and ride it back to the Blue Loop, then finish the Blue Loop for a 2.7 mile combined loop.

The North Loop is a 2.3 mile counterclockwise singletrack loop through woods, along White Rock Creek and the Bush Freeway, and around the borders of parks of the NorthBark Dog Park.    The North Loop, the Dirt Jumps and the Pump Track are accessed by turning to the left just past the trailhead sign, and following the white arrows down the sidewalk behind the apartment complex:

The Dirt Jumps are beginner to expert-level jumps in the center of the North Loop, with an easy roller line around the perimeter of the Jumps:

Dirt Jump Rule #1:  No dig, no ride.  Contact Barry Bishop at [email protected] to learn how you can help, or keep an eye on the KJ Trail Facebook page, where you can PM Barry if you wish.

The Pump Track is a standard pump track located just to the east of the Dirt Jumps:

Trail Notes:  New Trail Maps will be posted in the future, but old maps can be accessed under “Photos” on the KJ Trail Facebook page (see the link above).  There are plans to expand the singletrack on both the South and North Sides.  The directional arrows are outlined with reflective highway sign sheeting for night rides.  Periodic Trail Work Days will be posted on the KJ Trail Facebook page and the DORBA forum pages.    Bikers ride counterclockwise, Hikers hike clockwise.  Please be courteous to other trail users and the apartment people.  Please be respectful of the adjacent Oak Tree neighborhood, be kind to the residents, and please do not exit the trails into the private Oak Tree neighborhood.   Be smart, be safe and wear a helmet.
