2005 BAR H BASH TRIALS COMPETITION

After a year off, the Bar H Trials comp is back and better than ever! We've spend a few weekends already getting things cleaned up and ready. All of the sections for all three classes will be tougher and longer.

WHAT IS A BIKE TRIALS COMPETITION?

Bike trials is a test of balance, skill and strength. A bike trials competition requires a rider to negotiate a specified section of obstacles without putting a foot on the ground or a hand on any obstacle. Each time a foot or hand touches an obstacle or the ground is a point (or a number of points depending on the penalty). The rider with the least amount of points at the end of the comp wins.

CLASSES

This competition will be divided into Expert, Sport and Beginner categories. Each class will complete three sections three times for a total of nine sections that each rider must complete.

Competitors range from Expert riders who have been involved in the sport for years to first timers riding regular XC bikes. Most trials riders ride specialized trials bikes designed for this type of riding. These bikes usually have no seat and seatpost, wide tires and rims, hydraulic brakes, bashguards and wide bars.

Anyone is encouraged to enter this competition including those who have never ridden trials. You'll find this type of riding just might be the most fun you can have on two wheels! The bike trials community is a group of encouraging and friendly riders who are willing to offer help, ride tips and the motivation to become an expert trials rider.

THE SECTIONS

EXPERT: Just like the title says, Expert! These sections require a high level of trials skills. These sections will include several cars, spools, natural terrain, and other man made objects.

SPORT: Still requiring a high level of skill, the sport sections will include natural terrain and a variety of man made obstacles.

BEGINNER: This is the class for you if you've never entered a competition or ridden bike trials. These sections are designed around smaller obstacles and negotiating tight turns. Your XC bike with normal chainrings are compatible with these sections.

ENTRY FEE

The entry fee is $20.00 with the proceeds going to the top finishers in each class. Included with the entry fee is a custom Bar H Bash Trials Comp t-shirt. You are also required to purchased a $5.00 one day temporary NORBA license.

WHEN & WHERE

The trials competition will be held Saturday April 2nd at 2 PM. The trials area is located behind the ranch house at the bottom of the hill. Just follow the signs and don't forget your camera.
