I was out at Nothshore for my first time on Friday afternoon. On my last mile of the ride I decided to tackle a big downhill section of big rocks. Needless to say be being a N00B I fell hard and landed on my right hand. My ring finger took the brunt of the fall and it broke. Doesnt hurt all that bad but I cant bend it very well. I attempted to ride this afternoon and cant really grip the right handlebar all that well.

I am so bummed out because I have been off all weekend and am off the next two days and it looks like I wont be riding. :-(

That is my sad story for the day, thought I would share. Hopefully it heals fast and I can get back on the trails, its like a drug that I cant live without.

I dislocated my finger in October. It would have been beter if it was completely severed. It took three months for the tip of my finger to touch my palm (even trying to force it).

I feel the reason for this is that I baby'ed' it for too long before trying to rehab. I am no doctor, but from my exp. do not splint for an excessive amount of time and dedicate up to 1 hour every other day to rehab. Things as simple as grabing rice in a big bowl to smashing playdough for 15min at a time.

I am back to about 75% and think I can live with these results. Good luck on your rehab and hope to SYOTT.

Heal up bro.  You will have the rest of your life to ride your bike.  Later you will fly through that downhill section without batting an eye.  The finger will be a good reminder of your progress.

Every rider has injuries, and the world expands and shrinks all at once over the years.

Good luck to you.

Well I went to the doctor today I conviently had a physical scheduled months in advance. He took a look at it and determined that it was just a really bad sprain. I should be good to go once all this rain leaves and the trails are dry again. Looking forward to this weekend!!
