COURSE DESCRIPTION
Some fields, lots of woods, rocky sections, and lordy! look out for the slime on those creek crossings! This is an awesome trail, several climbs that will work your legs little, a lot of twisties to keep you awake, or smack you awake should you doze. A few fast sections too, just to keep it from being all work. There are two loops marked for different skill levels. Follow RED for the entire Boulder experience; all the hills, rocky descents, dips, and wet creek crossings. Following the BLUE bypasses the harder stuff, mostly friendly enough for the whole family.

Any update on the loops we'll be riding for Boulder?
No update yet.. gotta get out there and pick some...
Hopefully things will be dry soon and we'll get out there with the TS and layout a good 8-9 mile loop. The RD may see that 11 miles of everything might be bit to long for the endurance series. The fastest lap for Johnson Branch's 8.6 mile course was 41:07 on a geared bike, 42:19 for the SS guys.
Just rode the mostly dried out trail with Cash, the Boulder Trail Steward this afternoon, and got a little over 8 miles on my gps for the trail we're looking to use for the endurance race. It should come out to be a little longer, as we skipped a few areas that did not need to see bike tires today. Expect to see a lot of the A, B, and C loops, with a good portion of the Cash Extension included as well. The E loop is currently 'under construction', so it will not be utilized. Did not ride Loop D today, but I'm not sure it will be included anyway.

Happy to see the Cash Extension included. Its got a great personality to it :)

Rode the trail late Saturday and very little mud. Just a few slick spots. Race course is marked with some arrows. Final marking will take place Friday afternoon, 2/17. Ride loops A, B, C and all of the Cash loop. No D or E in the race. We measured close to 9 miles for the loop. One wet creek crossing.
Nice work out there Cash!
SS Rookie has it spot on.
Follow the red arrows, and you'll make it through the course with no problem. That means NO bypasses during Loop A.
To visually run through it in your head, here's the course in a nutshell:
A to B, B to C, C to Cash extension (sweet loop), Cash Extension back to C, C to B, B to A (while rocking the Dam Climb, gradually ride down the slope and take a U-turn back into A). This part will be properly marked on Tuesday afternoon for you pre-riders.
No D or E.
Mapped course to come shortly.
It's warm out, go ride your bikes!!
This image is supposed to get you all excited to get on your bicycles and ride your butts off! Get pumped! Here is the race course fully marked out.
Le mans start near the trail head, Pastor Bailey to Red Bird, then it's all cake from there.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road.. Just for a little bit. The arrow to the right designates the only part of the course that may catch some pre-riders off guard. Don't let that person be you! Remember, only YOU can prevent forest fires (and unnecessarily riding Loop D).

Thanks for posting this. Do you know where the pits and timing strip will be?
As a matter of fact I do.
The timing strip will be placed slightly before the right hand turn back into the loop at the trail head.
The pits will be along the Pastor Bailey side of the trail before the timing strip, or within a decent proximity after the strip.
Awesome! Thanks for the map. Looks like I was riding Loop D during my pre-ride last Sunday, so I'm feeling much better about my lap times now.
As you should! I did the entire loop myself last Sunday as I was marking, and was questioning my time. Then I remembered I rode the entire trail.
Boulder has a great trail steward in Cash and here's a reason why:

This is where the arrow on the map is pointing. Go in at B/A to the right.
I'm confused on the whole start thing :)
Run, grab bike, ride down Pastor Bailey, turn on Redbird, then what? Jump into loop b?
Please explain like I've never done a MTB race before....cuz I haven't :)

You are actually spot on with your description.
Everyone will start by running to their bike, picking it up, and peddling their legs off down Pastor Bailey, and onto Red Bird until they reach the entrance of the trail 3/4 the way down Red Bird. How you enter the trail is up to you. Jump, hop, or even fly. Just don't fall.
This entry point means that everyone will ride their first lap without most of A and half of B.
Do we get to spin around in circles with our foreheads on a baseball bat too? ;)
J/K....the whole thing sounds like a blast and I'm looking forward to it :)
Thanks for putting it on!
Are we going to need a team of folks with landscaping blowers to get the trail dry in time?
Great race map. It's Boulder race time!
Be there or stay home & suck your thumb.
Cash is out there doing what he can to keep Mother Nature from taking away our sacred race day. This race wouldn't be nearly as possible to hold without the hard work he and his group of trail workers have done in recent weeks. You Boulder lovers sure are lucky!
I'll be out there Friday afternoon to tape off areas and help blow-dry the trail.
People have been known to get creative during the Le mans start, but this would be the first time I've heard of spinning around a bat! I have to see it to believe it.
Come and have a great time! Don't be a thumb sucker!
All of you race happy DORBA members, I come to you with sad news. Cash, myself, and the Board of Directors have decided that with the current trail condition, along with the gloomy forecast, the Sun&Ski Frozen Series race at Boulder this Saturday, Feb 18th has been called off and rescheduled for March 10th.
That's 3 weeks away, so make plans accordingly, and come out to have some fun for 6 hours with some of your closest mountain biking friends! Look for the official post on the main page, which is to come shortly.
Thanks for wisely cancelling early and all of your hard work. We appreciate it.
After much consideration, it has been decided to postpone this weekend's race due to the increased possibility of precipitation for Saturday. As much as we would like to have the race this weekend, we do not want to adversely affect the mountain bike trail at Boulder after all the hard work Cash and company have put in making the trail great. We also do not want to offer our members and guests a less than ideal event which has the propensity to be unsafe. In short no one wants floating portapots or rutted trails. We have scheduled another date for the Boulder race on March 10, 2012 provided weather allows. Have a good weekend and bring your game to Boulder March 10th.

I'm bummed, but the right call was made.
Bummed because March 10 is the first date of the Time Trial series my club runs, so I have to miss the BP race :(

Good call on the race cancelation! It looks like ya'll got almost an inch of rain in Big D on Saturday. It is always a difficult thing to pre-emptively cancel a race due to weather that may or may not happen. In this case the weatherman got it right a so did you guys. The Okies should be there in full force for the last 2 races of the series. They will fall perfectly for Ouachita Challenge training........C ya next month!

Bring it Okies !!
Thanks,
Tommy D.
